Turned around

You know when I quoted Ann Voskamp in my last post about simplicity being a matter of focus? She quotes that in her blog today while writing about a frightened sparrow.  When You Are Feeling Overwhelmed

I loved her blog post because I know what it’s like to make a wrong turn and suddenly end up in the dark.  Usually, it’s because I’m in flight from some kind of fear – either real or imagined.  And next thing I know, I’m trapped and I can’t figure how to get out of my circumstances.

At least I feel like I’m trapped.

But the truth is, God always has a way out for me.

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” ~ I Corinthians 10:13

No matter how I’m tempted to fear…

No matter how I’m tempted to distrust…

No matter how I’m tempted to retreat into flights of self-preservation…

…God is already there, and He has ALREADY provided the ESCAPE – right there in the middle of the temptation.  There are no traps.  They are all in my head.  Lies from the enemy.  Shadows from a boogie-man.

God is my way of escape.

If' I’d only turn around and see it.
